COMM: REF-VOLK-A SECURE TRANSMISSION RE: "THE HUNTER" RECEIVED 2030.03.16

"I figured it was only a matter of time before you asked about him. For a while I tried to suppress the rumors, figured all this talk of a "Hunter" rivaling one of our own people had to be bad for morale. But even I underestimate my people sometimes, 'cause now they're all looking to get a piece of this prophetic stalker who seems to know all of our moves before we make them. I'll send you the scraps of intel we've pieced together so far. -VOLK"

COMM: REF-VOLK-A SECURE TRANSMISSION FOR-REF: SCOUTED RECEIVED 2030.03.16

"Volk...signal lock is struggling...you need to get this ...we actually saw the ...thing! Hold on - there - Volk, I think it's him! He took a shot at us from what must have been a mile off, and when we turned around, there he was right in front of us. We had already wiped out a whole squad of ADVENT by then, and he didn't even move to stop us. I don't even know why he let us live...do you think it could actually be you know who...?"

COMM: REF-9121 SUBJECT "T" STATUS INQUIRY INTERCEPTED BY WIDEBAND 2028.08.11

"As requested, my formal update on subject "T" is to follow, but for now I can briefly speak as to his progress as identified by doctrine guidelines. Now approaching the end of his second conditioning pass, including full access to the ADVENT tactical archive, our subject has shown an overall retention rate well above accepted returns. Although initially scheduled for five complete passes before field trials, I believe it may be an unnecessary delay in his progress. Worth noting, his personality has begun to exhibit changes that can only be attributed to the wealth of newly acquired information that now...END OF FILE FOUND."

appearance
The Hunter is tall and lanky, with a face that gives off a reptilian impression. His grins always seem bloodthirsty due to his shark-like teeth (and he sure does grin a lot). Additionally, his skin is a pale blue, and his blood is a viscous pale orange that bubbles when it comes into contact with air. His pink eyes are constantly glowing from his psionic power. His armour is thin and lightly plated, focusing on mobility over protection, and he always has his hood up, no matter what.

abilities
farsight & all seeing
"Did you really think you could sneak by me? Me?! I have to say I'm a bit insulted. I'll try not to take it out on your friend though."

The Hunter's eyes can see through all disguises and concealment (up to and including psionic cloaking), allowing him to perceive things beyond human perception. This is both due to his psionic abilities and the extensive genetic engineering he had undergone. He can also continue to track people even after they leave his direct line of sight. Because of this, he's incredibly hard to sneak up on, to the point where most think he has eyes on the back of his head...
sniper
"The most dangerous game? Hardly."

The Hunter is a veteran sniper, frequently tasked to stalk and hunt the enemies of his masters, the Elders. Combined with his highly tactical and calculative mind, he's renowned for being able to predict his prey's movements to the point where he will often fire before they've even moved - and still hit the mark. While his skill is due to his experience, genetic modifications and psionics, this is further aided by the advanced targeting systems he has installed into his sniper rifle, Darklance. He's also a good shot and a deft hand with his sidearm pistol, Darkclaw.
planewalker - teleportation
"If it's purple, it must be Psionic."

The Hunter's psionic abilities are more than just heightened perception, however. While he has access to the 'basic' psionics of telepathy and fortifying his mind against psychic invasions, he can also teleport short distances using his 'planewalker' ability. However, he only uses this ability if his prey gets too close and attempts to engage him in melee. While he can teleport long distance, this can only be done when augmented by the Elders, and is only done to transport him to his next mission location, not for personal or combat use.
immortality
"I could keep doing this forever... literally. What's your excuse? Don't you have a world to save..."

The Hunter is immortal... to an extent. To ensure that their Chosen weren't prematurely destroyed before they had fully wrung their use out of them, the Elders connected the Hunter to a psionic artefact called the Sarcophagus. While the Hunter can still die, and has done so countless time in a myriad of gruesome ways, it's a fleeting state for him, as his deceased form is instantaneously teleported to the Sarcophagus and restored to full functionality within minutes. However, if the Sarcophagus is destroyed, he's rendered mortal - and freed from the Elder's leash.
genetic modifications
"I'm close, but nobody's perfect."

The Hunter was actually once human, and his current form is due to being captured by the Elders and forcibly transformed by extensive genetic modifications and psionic manipulation. The Elders are masters at splicing various pieces of DNA from multitudes of incompatible species into one viable form, and the Hunter is one of their most successful works. He towers over most at 234cm, and despite his lanky frame, is strong enough to pick up a fully armoured marine with one hand effortlessly, or leap to the top of a two story building in a single bound. That isn't getting into his, frankly insane, mobility, and lack of need to eat and sleep. The Hunter was created to be above such 'mortal needs', but he does have some defects the Elders weren't able to iron out.

While he's incredibly strong, he's also incredibly brittle. Blunt-force trauma can easily break his bones, and the flash and shockwave from explosions can disorientate him due to his heightened senses. This can also scramble his psionics for a brief moment, which gives a major opening to take him down without his slippery teleporting interfering.
background
"Maybe there is another way. Maybe there can be peace- Nah, we'd just screw that up too. Probably easier to just kill one another."

The Hunter was the second Chosen to be created by the Elders, and he was designed to be an exceptional military tactician to combat the guerrilla tactics of the Resistance who rebelled against the Elders' rule. He's a bane to the Reaper faction - one of the many Resistance factions on Earth - and has a concerning familiarity with how they function and carry out their operations. He also eschews the dramatic and bombastic style of speaking his fellow Chosen and the Elders use, talking very casually like the humans he hunts.

This is because the Hunter is actually - or was - Tomko, a Reaper operative who had gone missing and assumed killed by ADVENT forces. In reality, he was captured by the Elders and subjected to inhumane experimentation and genetic engineering, transformed into the very thing he had hunted as a Reaper. However, though he does serve the Elders, he does so bitterly and while constantly toeing the line of insubordination, unafraid to mouth off to his masters even though it results in excruciating torture in the form of punishment.

The Hunter seems to have made peace with his lot in life, and has dedicated himself wholly to the hunt, yet there seems to be a trace of Tomko inside him still... maybe...
